First Motel 6 opened its doors to guests in Santa Barbara, California, in 1962. Almost 10 years later, Motel 6 Tropicana was launched in Las Vegas, Nevada. Later on in 1980, the motel chain had about 300 facilities across the county offering color television to its guests. In 2000, G6 Hospitality introduced the first international location by opening a motel in Ontario, Canada.
